We keep a watchful eye on what's going on in the world, because what's going on in the world affects us all.

2010 is the year of the tiger (and General Election) and we think it'll be a beast of a year for these twelve trends.

  1. The future is green: alternative energy; green buildings; greener lifestyles; greener approaches to waste management (at home and at work); greener approaches to packaging.

  2. 2009 was the year digital exploded. 2010 will be the year that savvy users will demand greater proof of return on their investment.

  3. As traditional media continue to feel the squeeze, watch out for chargeable online content.

  4. Chasms: the hyperconnected and the disconnected; climate change believers and climate change sceptics; information anywhere, anytime, anyplace and hunger for privacy.

  5. Growth in distance learning, mobile learning and social media in education as people take more responsibility for their careers and personal growth.

  6. More entrepreneurial education across the board: in schools, colleges, universities and businesses.

  7. Record numbers of university applicants as the Higher Education sector contends with funding cuts.

  8. Escalating consumer demand for proof, results and best deals. Transparency will no longer be a differentiator, but a requirement.

  9. Growth in learning new skills, from cooking from scratch and sewing to DIY and beekeeping.

  10. Bees will be the buzz! (Yes, we know the British Beekeepers Association is a client but mark our words!)

  11. Brazil, India and China will continue to exert their growing might.

  12. Consumer bingeing is dead; moderation, preparation and value, value, value will be the watchwords, whether from quality budget hotels or once in a lifetime holiday experiences.
